* Comparative listings of sources - Biographical Index of SA, Page 201 of Nancy Gemmell's 'Old Strathalbyn', wedding record, Genealogical records of GenealogySA, and the gravestone.
* The various records are generally consistent, with minor differences except for two:- (1) Matthew's birth was recorded in the Biographical Index as 1846 whereas is was probably nearer 1836, and (2) Nancy Gemmell has Matthew's spouse as Maud, whereas all other sources has her name as Mary.
