N001 - Sgian Dubh dagger which might have belonged to Ewen MacMillan
N001 - Sgian Dubh dagger which might have belonged to Ewen MacMillan
Alan Macleod of Edinburgh possesses this very old Sgian Dubh (black knife or Highland dirk). Family lore says it was carried by Ewen MacMillan at the Battle of Quebec in 1759. Alan has no proof of this, however, Ewen was a soldier in the 78th Fraser's Highlanders, and the members of Highland regiments at that time carried a Sgian Dubh, unofficially, in addition to their other equipment.
