Mr. Robert George Stewart,who died recently at the Adelaide Memorial Hospital, has resided at Ovlngham for the last 40 years.
His parents arrived in the ship Prince
George from Scotland In 1838, and he was
born on July 18, 1840, near where St.
Peter's Cathedral now stands.
In 1865 he married Miss Robena Leslie, the only daughter of Mr. Donald Leslie, of McLaren Vale, and resided for seven years in Strathalbyn.
In 1870 he worked for Mr. Roland Nutt,
the contractor for the Gawler Bridge.
The rest of his life was spent in the
city, where he worked for many of the
leading firms. In later years he was
caretaker at the Prospect District Hall.
He was an active member of the Church
of Christ. |

Mr. Robert George Stewart, who died
