Obituary.
THE LATE MR. HENRY J. HEASLIP It is with great regret that we
have to report the somewhat unexpected death of Mr. Henry Joseph Heaslip, which occurred at Adelaide on Monday, the I9th inst.Mr. Heaslip had gone to the city to witness the Test Match, when he was the victim of a seizure, and expired a few hours later. Deceased was the fifth and youngest son of the
late Mr. David. and Mrs. M. A. Heaslip, and was born at the farm in the Hundred of Booyoolee in 1876. He was educated at the Gladstone Public School, and commenced his trade as .a painter and decorator of that town. Subsequently he removed
to Port Pirie and finished his apprenticeship with Mr. Heaslip, one of the finest tradesmen at that port. He then commenced business on his own account and married. After several years' residence in that town he came north and for about twenty years was associated with his brothers (Messrs. Fred and Herb) in the hotel business at Quorn, and for a number of years held the lease of the Transcontinental. He
disposed of his interests is that house, and for a period was out of business. Last year he secured the lease, of the Yongala Hotel, and was guiding its destinies at the time of
his demise. Mr. Heaslip was fond of sport, and in his younger days was better than the average cyclist. He had an inherent love for horses, and held interests in several racehorses.
Of the Pistol horse CheerUp the family made a pet and he
would follow them around like a dog and beg for sugar and other dainties. The deceased had many fine qualities as an indulgent father and his intimate friends could always rely
on his sense of honor. A widow, a son (Mr. Keith Heaslip, of Yongala),two daughters (Mrs. Syd Kirwan, of Adelaide) and a younger child, and three grandchildren survive. His mother, who lives at Gladstone, is well over 80 years of age. The past year has been a sorrowful one to her, for death has
robbed her of two sons (Fred and Henry) plus a sister during that period, To the bereaved we extend our deepest sympathy.
