  	Page 3 of the 'Rankine Family History' has the mother as Sarah Melville, whereas the OPR for the birth of their son, James born 1765, has the father as James which is correct, but the mother is recorded as Sarah Mitchell. Is the family history wrong, or have we got the wrong OPR? * Family history: Unfortunately the Rankine Family History has not quoted sources. * OPR: The OPR has the right birth year as 1765 because his gravestone had him 80 years old when he died in 1850. And the place, in the Parish of Old Cumnock is reasonable because the family were living in various locations around there.
