Lived with her mother until the engagement and the death of her fiance in WWII. We kids remember her house as the "one with the monkey nuts?" because we kids all climbed the tree every visit during the 1950's & 60's and collected her eggs from her fowl house like mum did in her memory in 1940's. |

Both Mum and Dad recalled the story of Aunty Dora and her amazing tatting, sewing, knitting and crocheting of socks for the war effort via Red Cross. Her 20 years Long Service Medal. Her indigance of the offer from the Queen since she was doing it not for accolades! Regularly went off about it dad used to say how insulted she was. All for her dogged standing outside the football and shops to sell all her work to raise funds for the war effort.
