On Wednesday morning, October 4th, the Belvidere Methodist Church presented an animated appearance, when the seating accommodation was crowded to the doors with guests and visitors who had assembled to witness a marriage service, the contracting parties being Mr. R. J. Westlake, elder son of Mr.
Jno. Weatlake, and Miss Rosina Cross, second daughter of Mr. Geo Cross, both of near Belvidere. The church was beautifully decorated with a color scheme of white and green, a large arch extending across the middle of the building ? from the centre of which was suspended a massive wedding bell ? made a pretty frame for the bridal party while the Rev. J. Dingle tied the nuptial knot. The bride who was given by her father, was
charmingly gowned in creme striped delaine, trimmed with creamed tucked satin and silk insertion. She wore a tulle veil, prettily braided, and caught with a wreath of orange blossom, and carried a shower bouquet of white flowers and ferns tied with white streamers. She was supported by her sister, Miss Bessie Cross, taste fully dressed in a pretty creme frock, as bridesmaid, while Mr. H. Heinriek attended as bestman, Mise Collett presiding at the organ. After the ceremony a reception was held at the homestead of the bride's parents, some two miles distant and quite a procession of vehicles left the church to partake of Mr. and Mrs. Cross's hospitality, the day being an ideal one,and about 75 guests sat down to a sumptuous
wedding breakfast, at which the usual toasts were enthusiastically honored. Games in great variety were provided for all present during the afternoon, and in the evening music, songs, and drawing-room games were indulged in. The presents received by the bride and bridegroom were handsome, valuable, and numerous. The happy couple drove away in the early evening en route for then honeymoon trip amidst a shower of confetti
and good wishes from all present. The bride's travelling dress was a pretty navy blue voile, trimmed with navy tucked silk and cream overall silk lace, with creme hat to match. Supper was served at about eleven o'clock, and after three ringing cheers bad been given for Mr. and Mrs. Cross the large gathering dispersed each and all having spent a most enjoyable and happy time.
