    Census: April 1871, Jane was at Pancras St Matthews in London as a visitor from South Australia - as recorded on the England Census of 3rd April 1871 (or 1881?). On the census her name was spelt Jane H Heldene rather than Haldane.
    Maureen McClennan commented that it looks like the poor woman, as an 18 year old, was put on a boat and sent to England to marry someone she did not know. There must have been friends of the Hamilton and Harrison families who arranged the marriage.
