Biography Notes |
The following is an extract from the biography of Margaret McLean (born about 1827, died 1912):- 'In 1974, Christina Parker, daughter of AJ McDonald, spoke about her great aunt Margaret. "I remember visiting uncle Dick and aunt Johns in Geelong. They were old then. One day aunt Johns gave me a bible inscribed - 'Given to Christina May McDonald by aunt Johns 1910'. The bible had the name Elizabeth Keating already written in."
Elizabeth was the daughter of Margaret's first marriage, to James Keating. Uncle Dick would have been Richard Johns who was Margaret's second husband. AJ McDonald was Alexander John McDonald, born 1861, nephew of Margaret.
This bible might have previously belonged to Elizabeth, who might have died before 1910.
This gift of the bible implies a good relationship between Christina and Margaret.
