TECHNICAL SCHOOL'S CONTINUED PROGRESS;
ENROLMENTS SHOW INCREASE. Creditable Examination Results. A further increase in enrolments and very creditable examination results were reported by the President of the Technical School council, Mr. Wm. Hay, at the annual prize distribution on Thursday night.
The function was the most largely attended for many years, and seating accommodation, proved quite inadequate. Mr. Hay, who presided, expressed pleasure at the attendance of such an unexpectedly large gathering, and apologised for the shortage of
seats. The Mayor and Mayoress (Mr. and Mrs. W.' E. Pyne) were among those present, and members of the School Council who supported the President were Messrs. Alex Cameron, G. C. Barnard, F. C. Addison, C. H. Tomkins and H. G. Dunning. The new District Inspector of Schools (Mr. A. Paul) was also present. He was cordially welcomed by the President and introduced to the gathering. President's Report. In presenting the report of the work and general activities of the Technical school year 1938, Mr. Hay said he was very pleased to note that the enrolments and examination successes. were slightly ahead of
the previous year. The number of students in the various classes were as follows:
Dressmaking-Mount Gambier 89, Tantanoola 10, Gloncoe 14, Kalangadoo 16, Milllcent 28, Naracoorte 27, Penola 21; Total 205. Art subjects (16 different subjects) 73, bookkeeping 17, shorthand 21, business correspondence and typewriting 26, general woodworking 20, dairy technology 11, invalid
cookery 11. EXAMINATIONS One hundred and forty-eight students sat for the Country Technical School Examination; of these 127 were successful, an average of over 85 per
cent.The Kilsby trophy, presented cach year by Mr, G. H, Kilsby to the student "who obtains the best examination results, has this year been won by Margaret Betty Hosldng,
who passed with credit in three commercial'subjects. Prizes have also been awarded to:-Eileen Kluge (special prize)-four commercial passes. Margaret B. Hosking-Book-keeping grade I, Gwen Millhouse-Dressmaking grade I. Margaret C. Dixon-Dressmaking
