Joans story of her falling out of bed in her sleep 'clipping her eye on a bedside cupboard' in middle of the night was talked about a lot. The Doctor told her mother [Glady Irene] off for not bringing Joan (my mum:Lorna McLean) into Dr/Hospital immediately. Since, they lived far away with only bicycles for transport it was on the tram the next morning for the trip. Treated for concussion & stitched over her left eye. In the same year mum had fallen from her big sisters shoulders during play, to break her {Joan Natalie's] arm. But as this was a lot more of a "loud" accident due to the pain. Their Uncle Wog or Uncle David had to be phoned from a phone box to come and take them to Doctor.

1940's Buick Truck nearly asphyxiated Edwin James lying near hole in the floor over engine on a long trip with fumes making him flaccid and pale on arrival. Stripped and removed from vehicle.

1953 FIRST TRUCK leaked gas and gassed Edwin on a trip. Almost fatal. On arrival home from shopping with 9month old first baby, Benjamin asked how did baby travel? Joan said slept all way there and back. Benjamin immediately grabbed infant and stripped him bare in the wind to get him to breathe fresh air. The vehicle he knew was leaking carbon monixide gas into the cabin from a rotting floor board. But Joan would not have noticed with her window open. The baby was resting/sleeping on the floor

Joan the only living member of her line of family (2017) has a lucid memory of many components of her life and had an avid curiosity of her descendents and relatives, supported by photograph memories. Anything she could not remember she would jokingly say 'youll have to ask Aunty Flora' who had in fact passed away October 2016.
