NEWSPAPER PINNAROO SA WRITE UP....FINAL GALADAY PLANS MURRAYVILLE?S BIG DAY
AUGUST 8 1951 After many weeks of preliminary .organisation by committees the programme for the Gala Day was finally completed at the Meeting held last Thursday.Much interest is being* created by the Jubilee Queen Float
Parade and each centre considers that its queen will be the winner. Those nominated so
far are;?Danyo, Miss Val Crane; Ngallo, Miss Jean Sporn; Murrayville, Reed Street, Miss
YVONNE LACKMAN GREY STREET Miss Daphne Crane, Miss Phyllis Watson Cowangie and Goongie have hot yet officially announced the names of their representatives and there is likely to be a late change in the third Murrayville
float if transport can be arranged. Besides the queen floats there are many entries in the other floats and it is anticipated that
there will be some splendid effort this year?perhaps even out-doing the fox-hunting of
last Gala Day. A brief fancy dress football
match to be staged after the profession of floats promises to be a riot. All business establishments, including cafes,will-he closed on that day. Hot water will be provided at the
Recreation Grounds from 12.30, when the gates will be opened. So great is the anticipated
increase in floats this year - that Danyo residents have banned all carting until after August Bth. all vehicles commandeered for other purposes. Gala Day?make it a day for young arid, old to remember. The Committee
requests that all Queen Floats carry the name of the district it represents.A grand entertainment has been outlined for--the evening and the now famous ?Ballet de Mallee? is rehearsing something very special, ; something to do with carpets and taking people
for a trip. . 'Afternoon tea, sumptuous tea
at the school, and late supper will help keep the inner man quiet. It is hoped, that many former residents, pioneer and younger generations who have made their homes in other parts will endeavour to return for the Mur-'
