Married: at Adelaide to Johanna Frances O'Donnell, b. 26/8/1894 at Lake Boga.
James was a farmer in the Murrayville area but poor seasons finally forced him off the land just after the second World War. He then worked at the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital until he retired at age 65.
Death: He passed away in the same hospital on 31/1/1968 in his 77th year. He is buried at Springvale Cemetery.
Johanna came to Murrayville in 1923 as a school teacher and taught at Rusbridge State School about 8 miles north of Murrayville.
Death: She passed away on 1/8/1972 just 25 days short of her 78th birthday. She is buried beside James in the Springvale Cemetery.
James owned a stripper and written on it with black lead pencil was the following:

James was a returned servicemen serving in France during the 1st World War (Light Horse Brigade). He was wounded there on at least two occasions. (He was with his brother, Colin, also killed in France.)
