    Biography Notes After leaving school he became a rabbit trapper, then on his 15th birthday he began working on a station at 1 ($2) a week, about 5 miles from the Gumbowie home. He worked a 78 hour week. Subsequently Douglas moved to Clare, and then to Waitpinga, near Victor Harbor where the only child was bom. He moved to Adelaide in 1948. His occupation was not disclosed in the article he wrote for the Port Lincoln "Times" of 7/8/1984. A full page copy of this article is available from D. & C. McLean Genealogical Council, cost $5

    After world travel in 1975 he decided on Port Lincoln, after collecting his wife from Tasmania where she had remained during his time overseas, and this seems to have been his last resting place.

    Death: ln 1987 in his 75th year at Adelaide, from injuries received after being knocked down by a car in Whyalla when visiting his son there. He was cremated at Centennial Park.  [1
    Biography Notes Douglas was vitally interested in McLean history. He attended the first meeting of the Donald and Christina McLean Reunion Committee on 26th Jan 1986. His death in 1987, was acknowledged at the second meeting on 11th Dec 1987.
