Biography Notes Beryl Salome Warner, born 17/12/1893 at Lawloit, Vic.

Marriage: to Milton Robert Mclntosh, (b.9/9/1889) of Donald, Vic. at the Donald Methodist Church.

HISTORY: Abridged from a lengthy account. Beryl was educated at Lawloit, and the Continuation School Melboume, (later Melbourne High School). With the family she was a loyal supporter of the Methodist Church, playing the organ at Lawloit until she left in 1910. During Lawloit school time she had a severe illness which lasted over a year, so that her brother Harvey caught up with her.

She and Harvey left for Melbourne together, where Beryl in due course became a quali school teacher, but due to illness Harvey was compelled to return home. Beryl loved hockey, she taught in Melbourne bringing her sister. Elsie to the city and paying for her education. In due course she became a teacher too.

Beryl was then transferred to Donald, where she met a local farmer to whom she was engaged for 5 years. Before their marriage in 1921, Milton Mclntosh with his brother, Jack, were working at a selection in the Darling Downs area of Queensland. There the couple set about years of hard pioneering effort, 3 children were born but the 2nd died due to the difficulty of getting him to a doctor in time.

Beryl saved her eldest son, Bill, after he swallowed poison by her calmness, and general knowledge of first aid. Milton purchased one of the first motor cars in Queensland, took his family back to Nhill in 1926 and opened a shop. ln 1929 he bought a farm near Euroa and moved to a large old farm house, where conditions were more favorable than in Queensland. In 1930 grandmother, Christina Sturgeon (nee McLean) joined them for a time, but was to die at Nhill
before the end of the year at the Warner home.

The family did well at "The Willows". The children of Beatrice and Milton went to the Castle Creek State School, then onto the Euroa High. There are details in the family record of all that Beryl did at Euroa and her many local works. They prospered in spite of the 1944/45 drought until 1947, when due to an electrical fault the farmhouse they all loved so well burnt to the ground.

Their son, Bill, remained at a saved bungalow, while Beryl, Milton and daughter, Yvonne, moved into the town and took up many interests. ln 1951, with time to spare, Beryl at last attained her teaching degree. Overseas trips followed. Eventually, due to Parkinson's disease Beryl's health failed - Milton nursed her faithfully to the end.

Deaths: Beryl died 17/10/1963, aged 69 years. Milton died 16/4/1979. leaving 4 children.  [1
